Cotton Seed Treatments

Cotton Seed Treatments

Monsanto currently offers several seed treatment options for use on Deltapine® cotton seed. These offerings include both standard and premium seed treatment brands.

The standard seed treatment includes active ingredients with efficacy directed toward early season diseases which often limit stand establishment and adversely affect plant health. Rhizoctonia, fusarium, pythium, thielaviopsis, and other early-season pathogens often reduce cotton stands which can lead to yield loss. In our standard seed treatment fungicide package growers can take full advantage of the superior genetics and transgenes purchased in Deltapine® varieties.

Premium seed treatments are also included as options in the Deltapine® product portfolio. These are comprised of three general types of seed treatments: premium fungicides, insecticides and nematicides.

Cotton insecticide seed treatments are primarily directed toward providing control of early season thrips and aphids. Currently, Acephate 80S, and Cruiser® (thiamethoxam) are offered as optional premium treatments on Deltapine® varieties. In general, insecticidal seed treatments offer growers early season insect control in addition to the added benefits of convenience, reduced handling, and value as compared with foliar or in-furrow applied insecticide options.

Deltapine® is also offering Dynasty CST® as a premium cotton seed treatment fungicide. This brand is a combination of three active ingredients that help protect against a broad spectrum of seed-borne and soil-borne diseases including Fusarium, Pythium, and pre- and post-emergent Rhizoctonia and they deliver enhanced plant vigor and yield.

Deltapine® is also offering AVICTA ® Complete Cotton which offers cotton growers an innovative and convenient seed-delivered technology designed to effectively help protect cotton seedlings against early season pests ? nematodes, insects and disease. AVICTA ® Complete Cotton is a combination of three separately-registered products: AVICTA, a novel seed treatment nematicide, Cruiser® seed treatment insecticide, and Dynasty CST® seed-delivered fungicide.

Seed treatments offer growers additional tools for use in their cotton production system. In combination with superior Deltapine® varieties, seed treatments, whether fungicidal, insecticidal, or nematicidal have the potential to preserve value, reduce risk, and to increase the profit potential for cotton producers Beltwide.
